A stick, a few rocks and some sand

Years ago I was a speaker at a how to stock investing meeting,. It was a group that met monthly, and had some seriously dedicated and active investors in it

One thing I learned was that they like many others were always looking for the “magic potion” If they just had that one indicator, that one scan, that one blah blah blah then they could “be a market wizard!!!” …….Ohhhh….. Okayyyy……

So I took a stick, a few rocks and some sand. I poured the sand out on a table, placed the rocks where prices closed at the end of each week, then used my stick to draw the lines on the price movement in between
What did we then have? A stock chart that made money
Pretty rudimentary isn’t it? Can you think of anything more caveman’sh than that?

Warren Buffett was quoted as saying that “If someone has an IQ of 134 then they need to give away 5 IQ points because it doesn’t take a genius to do this”

Markets were all over the place this past week
Some of the names in our Model Portfolio did less than stellar
This weekend I am going to get a stick, a few rocks and some sand.
I’m then going to be able to see first hand, live, in person, what is strong, and what is not
Like I said this morning it’s time for a rebalance
Nothing fancy
Price
Price only
Price increasing and absolutely zero nothing else

This weekend may be one of the last times you can go get out in nature before the leaves fall… This pic was from a hike I did the other day. Go get out in nature while you still can
