Didn't fight it..

Didn't fight....

Sometimes in life we have to “choose our battles”
Recently I was at a dinner for faith based professionals
There had to of been well over 3 dozen people there

Well a discussion was going on and one gentleman went on to do some math
As he shared his story he said that “60 - 52 = 10”
Obviously we all know it’s not, it’s 9 , kidding, 🙃 it’s 8
At first I thought he was going to laugh it off and say he messed up
That would of been good, even Einstein admitted to making mathematical mistakes
But the gentleman didn’t, instead when someone mentioned his error he didn’t get defensive, but he doubled down
He then said “10 is close enough to 8 that 10 still counts”
And he was being serious… Ohhhh… Okayyyyy…..
At that point I had no reason to be a part of that conversation
There was nothing for me to gain by joining the debate, or even listening to it

The markets can be like that, or we as investors can be I should say
Do you argue and fight your losing trades? Or simply cut your losses and walk away?

If I sound like a broken record lately it’s because I care, I mean that, I do

Today I had to cut some losses, and glad that I did
Had I not of cut when I did the loss could of been ( would of been ) much larger
The money that I didn’t lose today I was able to take and place into other trades, the money from those out did the losing one by 6 to 1……..

Yes the markets did do some bouncing back from the lows today, but we’re not out of the woods just yet… Tariffs…… We all know that they’re knocking the market

But what about the indexes recently hitting fresh ATH’s?
What typically occurs after new ATH’s? You got it, profit taking, pull back
Today didn’t feel or look like profit taking, not at all, but a chart is a chart is a chart is a chart

This 3 year Weekly chart of the $SPY ( ▼ 0.36% ) suggests more downside could come before we advance again
After all SEPT doesn’t really get going until after mid-month ( historically ) but there’s no guarantee on that
The other major indexes looked like this $DJIA ( ▼ 0.5% )  $QQQ ( ▼ 0.02% )

We’re kind of in a no mans land here at the moment
Straddles, do you remember that money making strategy? We used it all through that big giant dip 4 months ago……
Where all we need is up or down, either direction, either way? I’m going back to them for a while
