Remember, it could easily of gone the other way
It could
Hey traders, is it as windy at your house today as it’s at mine?
Today would be a good day to own a wind farm, or go sailing
The market got some wind in it’s sails today with a boost from $AAPL ( ▲ 3.94% ) for its strong sales of the i17
AAPL reports earnings on OCT 30, 2025
$DJI ( ▲ 1.12% )
$SPY ( ▲ 1.04% )
$QQQ ( ▲ 1.26% )
$IWM ( ▲ 1.95% )
In the past I’ve been told that my writings ( I don’t only write this, but I also write a fun / life stuff newsletter I have ) are often like I’m talking with my buddies. That’s my style, I like it and it works for me
And today I NEED to do that, face to face, man to man, man to woman, trader to trader:::
About 14sh years ago I was part of a Meetup group, we met once a month in person, it was a cool thing, we talked stocks. At that time I didn’t know half of half about Options that I do today»» Not even close….
At that time $AMZN ( ▲ 1.62% ) hadn’t had any of its multiple splits yet
AMZN was trading at $300.00
Getting to 300 was a BIG DEAL if you were around back then you remember
MANY thought and said that NO ONE would buy higher than 300…
It was a “THING” back then….
And it was all the financial media talked about at that time…..
I’m of the old skool investing style that says strength creates more strength
Weakness creates more weakness
AMZN looked great on the chart, but remember I wasn’t as far along as I am today
Things like Order Flow, Short Interest with Sales and Time would come later
I only went off the chart, and a little bit of Options knowledge
It was the 1st time I used my box on box system
AMZN blew earnings away
The stock went from 300 to 330 overnight
I was loaded up on calls, as a novice Options trader I made over 30K
As I was beating my chest from my victory over my adapted from Darvas box on box system, I was also wiping the “wow this really worked” out of my eyes
The 1st person I told was a good buddy and professional trader
Lets call him “Bob” What Bob said to me I’ll never forget
“Remember, it could easily of gone the other way”
And he was right
The AMZN trade was unprotected, blind, naked
That’s what happens when you only buy calls or puts
You are blind, naked, no protection
I share that story for this:
This morning we here at theoptionscoach.net highlighted $TSLA ( ▲ 1.85% )
We didn’t go blind
If you took either of the 2 trades mentioned you should be ITM today 😃
Congrats to you trader
The Strangles weren’t cheap, I know that…
TSLA reports earnings this Wednesday after the bell
If ( which you should be ) your up on the Call side I’d think long and hard before dropping the short strike
We have one month on that trade, lets say TSLA does pop north you can drop the short after earnings should it start a new trend north. Profit taking could occur first
Same if it goes south just in reverse
Successful trading / investing isn’t about constantly going out after home runs, it’s about living to trade another day
