Stocks roll on

Banks are taking a hit today, nothing to panic about, tech stocks are holding their own. Whenever I see investors talk about their gains in any position I love to hear the process of how they did it. ORCL for example. We all know it beat earnings, but it also is being bought out. The news has been released, when a company gets bought out that’s it, it’s over, price does not keep rising. So investors can’t keep getting the same gains on it.

I know a hedge fund manager, years ago I would say to him “I made blah blah or blah today” His answer was always the same “That’s great, now do it again tomorrow” Years later I appreciate that more now than before. Consistency, winning in the markets its about consistency, So what, who cares if you made 300% gain on an options play one day on a lucky hit from a company buyout. Do it again tomorrow. Then the next day, then the day after that. Ohhhh and the day after that one too….. Don’t stop there, do it again the following day, and then some more after that one as well… Consistency. It’s one of the biggest keys to success at anything in life. Consistency.

There’s no crystal ball or “holy grail” in investing, not that I know of at least. But there is planning, strategy, and yes some luck. Options have a built in factor known as “POP” Probability Of Profit…. It’s a mathematical calculation to tell you at what percentage chance your trade has for making or not making X amount of money. With that you can help build upon your consistency.
