Weekly Recap MAY 4, 2025
weekly recap
Chinese culture is known for many things, their “proverbs” or sayings is one of them
They have a proverb that goes like this::
“The road to knowledge begins with the turning of the first page”
Well if that’s the case I feel like I’m about to become the worlds first holder of 10 separate PHd’s as I’ve been deep diving into every thing from the charts, to options chains, to D.O.M.s to reading , re-reading and reading again some of my all time favorite trading / investing classics. That’s not to mention everything that I look at to stay current
BARRONS put out a piece today that I feel is noteworthy
Here’s the challenge, not for us, but for them
As I’ve said before, articles like the one that we borrowed this graph from go like this::
1st Someone has an idea,
2nd A writer gets assigned
3rd That writer then has to research the material for the story
4th Then write the article
5th The editor then edits it ( after it’s been passed to them )
6th It waits for publication date
7th The story then gets published
8th Then we, the readers, read it
A lot, a lot, A LOT can happen between steps 1 and 8
We ( Americans if your here ) have a saying also, we say:
“There are two things that a person should never carry in their briefcase, and yesterdays news is one of them”
My thought is that since this was most likely assigned and researched weeks ago, if not longer, that this past weeks price action isn’t factored in

Even if, EVEN IFFFFFFFFFFFFFF those numbers hold true after this past week, and the previous weeks lead up to it that weren’t too bad either, that would mean a whole lot of investors will be or are missing out on the current rally
We here at theoptionscoach.net aren’t, not even close. We were very active during the recent volatility and we increased our portfolios profits greatly
As investors it presented some challenges, as traders it was opportunity knocking
Not all opportunities are new entries, some are exits of existing positions
$COST ( ▲ 1.06% ) was one that I closed out Friday morning on it’s giant push north
You may recall that we took positions when it was down at the $930, then the $960.00 and then the $970.00 range
Now that it breached above $1,000 that’s quite the advancement. Options aren’t like stocks, they have EXP dates, and prudent investors capitalize when they can. Right now we’re looking for a slight pullback on it before we take on any new positions in it. It would have to do a “hard reversal” off of Fridays lows to change our minds
$CAT ( ▲ 3.1% ) was one that we highlighted on Friday morning, not only did we take it, but we went green very quickly with it
$META ( ▲ 4.34% ) also
$JPM ( ▲ 2.28% ) Finally busted the move we’ve been waiting for, it’s still in a lot of chop here, a continuation would be nice
The % next to the stock symbol is Fridays close, the one after is how it did for the week
$AMZN ( ▼ 0.12% ) +0.52%
$CAT ( ▲ 3.1% ) +5.62%
$COST ( ▲ 1.06% ) 3.23%
$GOOG ( ▲ 1.86% ) +1.20%
$JPM ( ▲ 2.28% ) +3.68%
$META ( ▲ 4.34% ) +9.09% 😁 ( that’s been one of ours for a long time )
$MSTR ( ▲ 3.35% ) +7.00%
$SFM ( ▲ 1.32% ) +3.51%
$SPY ( ▲ 1.48% ) +2.93%
$WMT ( ▲ 1.38% ) +3.85%
I already have a pretty good idea what we’ll be playing this week
After the monster rally we just had we need to ready for any profit taking or pullbacks, in the morning we’ll know more. I’ll have the plays for the day then
