What are you watching?

We all know that there are 24 hours in a day. And that there are 365 days in a year, except for Leap Year which occurs once every 5 years. So for arguments sake lets take those 24 hours and multiply them by 365 days, we then get 8,760 hours.

The stock market on average is open 250 days a year, for 6.5 hours each day ( minus holiday trading ) That offers us 1,625 hours of trading / investing time each year.

Amongst Institutional Investors and less spoken by Retail Traders there is another mathematical known. It’s referred to as the “10 Day Rule”. Institutional Investors agree that there are typically 10 days in a trading year that you can simply throw a dart at a proverbial stock board and not miss green. 10 trading days equates to only 65 hours.

Yesterday May 15, 2024 was one of those days. Today was not.

For many maintaining a Watch List works best for when those 65 hours come. Investing is part art and part science, you don’t want to be late to the party, but you don’t want to miss the boat either. There are many different ways to create your own W.L. but what is important is to have one that you believe is ready to go when the opportunity presents itself.
