Everyone that’s been here a while knows that we here at theoptionscoach.net aren’t reliant upon indicators. We utilize price action in its rawest form. We do so by following “Darvas Boxes” if you will to get our levels of Support and Resistance
In addition to those we only have 2 other lines on our charts
The 20 Day EMA and 50 Day SMA
In times of hard market drops we may add the 200 Day SMA
We then go to the Options Chain and allow the mathematical odds to speak for themselves. Options vary from stocks in that manner
Stocks only offer “possibilities”
Options utilize “mathematical probabilities”
You’ll find options traders that like to play poker, and many excel at it, Texas Hold Em actually, bc that’s a game of mathematical probabilities

When stocks open in one direction, lets say up, then fall, then rise again, traders call that “Whip Saw”….. Whip Sawing can occur for traders and investors both
That’s what this market is doing right now.. “Whip Sawing”

There’s a indicator out there that doesn’t predict direction, it mathematically calculates the expected move in either direction. It’s called “ATR” or Average True Range
It does so by taking previous highs / lows then smoothing them out. Again it can’t tell us a direction, only the measured amount of movement in either direction from historical prices
One thing of note is that higher dollar stocks will have higher ATR’s
That is one of the main reasons we prefer higher dollar stocks
Think $CASY ( ▲ 0.6% )  $CAT ( ▼ 0.43% ) and $COST ( ▲ 0.01% ) When they make big moves, they then make big moves
Our long time friend $WMT ( ▲ 2.29% ) had a good day today

We’re back to market volatility, and that is what ATR gauges, volatility ( movement ) I share this today bc many, and I do mean many, stocks experienced both sides of their ATR’s today. Up and down. And even the ones that did close green today, didn’t close any where near their highs of the day

Whipsawing shouldn’t be dismissed, and often serves as a tell tale sign that market isn’t sure what it want to do just yet
